إن أهمية استخدام تقنيات الحديثة في التعليم قد علق عليها كثير من المشتغلين في ميدان التقنيات التربوية آمالاً واسعةً على الدور الذي تلعبه في العملية التربوية ويرى المتحمسون للتكنولوجيا التربوية أن استخدامها سوف يؤدي إلى :أولاً: تحسين نوعية التعليم وزيادة فعاليته ،وهذا التحسين ناتج عن طريق : - حل مشكلات ازدحام الفصول وقاعات المحاضرات.- مواجهة النقص في أعداد هيئة التدريس المؤهلين علمياً وتربوياً.- مراعاة الفروق الفردية بين الطلبة.- مكافحة الأمية التي تقف عائقا في سبيل التنمية في مختلف مجالاتها.- تدريب المعلمين في مجالات إعداد الأهداف والمواد التعليمية وطرق التعليم المناسبة- التماشي مع النظرة التربوية الحديثة التي تعتبر المتعلم محور العملية التعليمية.ثانياً : تؤدي إلى استثارة اهتمام التلاميذ وإشباع حاجاتهم للتعلم فلا شك أن الوسائل التعليمية المختلفة كالرحلات والنماذج والأفلام التعليمية تقدم خبرات متنوعة يأخذ كل طالب منها ما يحقق أهدافه ويثير اهتمامه .ثالثاً: تؤدي إلى البعد عن الوقوع في اللفظية وهي استعمال المدرس ألفاظاً ليس لها عند التلميذ نفس الدلالة التي عند المدرس ، فإذا تنوعت الوسائل فإن اللفظ يكتسب أبعاداً من المعنى تقترب من حقيقة الأمر الذي يساعد على زيادة التطابق والتقارب بين معاني الألفاظ في ذهن المدرس والتلميذ .رابعاً: تحقق تكنولوجيا التعليم زيادة المشاركة الإيجابية للتلاميذ في العملية التربوية.إن الوسائل التعليمية إذا أحسن المدرس استخدامها وتحديد الهدف منها وتوضيحه في ذهن الطالب سوف تؤدي إلى زيادة مشاركة التلميذ الإيجابية في اكتساب الخبرة وتنمية قدرته على التأمل ودقة الملاحظة وأتباع التفكير العلمي للوصول إلى حل المشكلات، ويؤدي هذا الأسلوب إلى تحسين نوعية التعليم ورفع مستوى الأداء عند التلميذ ، ومن أمثلة ذلك إشراك التلميذ في تحديد الأسئلة والمشكلات التي يسعى إلى حلها واختيار الوسائل المناسبة لذلك مثل عرض الأفلام ومشاهدتها بغية الوصول إلى الإجابة عن هذه الأسئلة ، وكذلك استخدام الخرائط والكرات الأرضية وأجراء التجارب وغيرها ، وما أكثر ما يقتصر استخدام المدرس لهذه الوسائل على التوضيح والشرح فقط ، مع أن الأفضل أن يقوم التلميذ باستخدامها تحت أشراف المدرس للوصول إلى حل بعض المشكلات التي يثيرها ، فيكون له بذلك دور إيجابي في الحصول على المعرفة واكتساب الخبرة.خامساً: تؤدي إلى تنمية القدرة على التأمل والتفكير العلمي الخلاق في الوصول إلى حل المشكلات وترتيب الأفكار وتنظيمها وفق نسق مقبول.سادساً: تحقق هدف التربية اليوم والرامي إلى تنمية الاتجاهات الجديدة وتعديل السلوك.إضافة إلى ذلك فإن توظيف التقنية في التعليم تؤدي إلى زيادة خبرة التلميذ مما يجعله مستعد للتعلم وهذه الخبرات قد أشار إليها إدجارو ديل في المخروط الذي وضعه الذي يسمى بمخروط الخبرة حيث تمثل الخبرات المجردة التي تعتمد على الخيال كالرموز اللفظية رأس المخروط وتمثل الخبرات الملموسة التي تعتمد على الممارسة الفعلية قاعدة المخروط ، ومن هنا نقول كلما زادت الخبرات الملموسة كلما زادت خبرة التلميذ مما يجعله مستعد للتعلم والعكس صحيح .هذه التقنيات تساعد - كذلك - على تنوع أساليب التعليم لمواجهة الفروق الفردية بين الطلاب داخل غرفة الصف كما أضاف بعض العلماء والباحثين مهام أخرى بالإضافة إلى ما سبق وهي أن الوسائل التعليمية تساعد على تعزيز الإدراك الحسي ، وتساعد على تقوية الفهم، وتساعد على التذكر والاستعادة ، وتزيد من الطلاقة اللفظية وقوتها بالسماع المستمر إلى التسجيلات الصوتية والأفلام وما يستلزمه من قراءات إضافية ، وتبعث على الترغيب والاهتمام لتعلم المادة والإقبال عليها ، وتشجع على تنمية الميول الإيجابية لدى التلاميذ من خلال الزيارات والرحلات والأفلام والتسجيلات السمعية والتلفزيون وما إليها ،وتنمي القدرة على الابتكار لدى التلاميذ.وإضافة إلى تعود الفائدة للمتعلم وللمعلم من خلال العلاقة القوية التي تصبح بينهما فلا شك أن استعمال المعلم الوسائل في شرح درسه وتبسيطه للمادة يحببه لطلابه وبالتالي تزيد ثقة طلابه به فيتقربون إليه وخاصة إذا ما اعتمد على طلابه في مساعدته لعمل وسائله فانه خلال العمل بعد ساعات الدوام المدرسي يفسح المجال لطلابه للتحدث معه بعيداً عن الرسميات التي يتطلبها الدرس فقد يخوضون في بحث مشكلة اجتماعية أو مناقشة خبر من الأخبار ، ويتجاذبون أطراف الحديث من نكات وغيرها وبذلك تتحول العلاقة بينهم علاقة معلم وطلاب قائمة على الاحترام التقليدي بما فيها من خوف إلى احترام وحب وصداقة تساعد المعلم على تفهم مشكلات طلابه والتعرف إليها ويسهم في حلها بالتعاون مع زملائه المدرسين وأسرهم وكثيرا ما يعتز كل منهم بصداقات تربطه ببعض من علمه تكونت في هذا النوع من الظروف أو غيرها.سابعاً: مواجهة تطور فلسفة التعليم وتغير دور المدرسيهدف التعليم إلى تزويد الفرد بالخبرات والاتجاهات التي تساعده على النجاح في الحياة ومواجهة مشكلات المستقبل ، ولا يمكن أن يتم ذلك بالتلقين والإلقاء ولكن بتوفير مجالات الخبرة التي تسمح له بمتابعة التعلم لاكتساب الخبرات الجديدة ليكون أقدر على مواجهة المتغيرات المستمرة في متطلبات الحياة ، وأنواع العمل التي يمارسها والمشكلات التي تصاحب ذلك ، ولهذا كان من الضروري توفير الوسائل التعليمية التي تسمح بتنويع مجالات الخبرة والتي تؤدي إلى امتداد فرص التعلم والإعداد على مدى الحياة ،ومن هنا نشأ الاهتمام بالتعليم للإعداد للحياة ، واستغلال جميع وسائل الاتصال التعليمي بما في ذلك وسائل الاتصال الجماهيرية لتحقيق هذا الهدف.وفي هذا الإطار انتقلت وظيفة المدرس من دورها التقليدي في التلقين إلى أن أصبح له وظائف جديدة يحتاج لأدائها إلى خبرات جديدة في إعداده لكي يتمشى مع التطور التكنولوجي ولذلك أصبح يشار إلى المدرس أحياناً على أنه رجل التربية التكنولوجي الذي يستخدم جميع وسائل التقنية لخدمة التربية وأصبح نجاحه يقاس بقدرته على تصميم مواقف التعلم بالاستعانة بجميع وسائل التعليم ، والتكنولوجيا التي تساعد كل فرد على اكتساب الخبرات التي تؤهله لمواجهة متطلبات العصر، وأصبح يشار إلى المدرس كذلك على أنه المصمم للبيئة التي تحقق التعلم.ثامناً : أهمية الوسائل التعليمية في مواجهة مشكلات التغيرات المعاصرةيمر العالم في تغييرات كثيرة تناولت جميع نواحي الحياة وأثرت على التعليم من كافة جوانبه وأهدافه ومناهجه ووسائله ؛ بحيث أصبح من الضروري على رجال التربية أن يواجهوا تحديات العصر بالأساليب والوسائل الحديثة حتى يتغلبوا على ما يواجههم من مشكلات ويدفعوا بالتعليم لكي يقوم بمسئوليته في تطوير المجتمع.
